What We Do
NanoReTox is an international, interdisciplinary and strategic program, addressing the environmental and human implications of exposure to engineered nanoparticles. The project started in December 2008, and lasts 4 years.
Central to our research approach is placing equal weight on nanoparticle synthesis and characterisation as on toxicological and ecotoxicological studies. These three research strands are constantly harmonising activities as the project progresses.
Early indications are that this approach is working and that different teams see comparable toxicity effects for the same particles and consistent across teams toxicities from different particles. This gives us confidence we will develop a reliable risk assessment model in the final year of the project.
